ISSUES & PRIORITIES

COMMON SENSE POLITICS
Conserving our local, conservative, family values. No matter what.
Above all other policy debates, I believe the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are paramount. Lincoln warned us what’s at stake when government forgets it is made “of the people, by the people, for the people.” As your State Representative, I won’t let Lansing forget the people are in charge.
Broad policies and principles I will support in Lansing:
- Lower State Taxes:Our state’s talented youth and valued seniors are leaving for Texas, Tennessee, and Florida for better opportunities and lower taxes.
- Limited, Transparent Government: The government, by nature, does things inefficiently. Decisions should be made as close to the people as possible.
- Border Security & Law Enforcement: Police make communities safer. A secure border is an integral part of prosperous nation, and state.
- Election Integrity: Voter-ID is a necessity for secure, transparent, and auditable elections. Trust in our democracy depends on it.
- Constitutional Carry: A good person with a gun stops a bad person with a gun. Make it easier for good people.
- Right to Life: All human life is sacred, starts at conception, and deserves protection.
- Parental Rights: Parents have the final say in the lives of their children. Every time.
ECONOMY + AFFORDABILITY
Make it in Michigan! Cut Red tape! Keep paychecks in the pockets of hardworking families.
America was built by Michigan hands on the factory floors of Mid-Michigan and in the fields of the Thumb. At that time, one paycheck could support a stable, thriving middle-class family. Today, it often takes two just to keep the lights on. For decades, Lansing has allowed jobs to leave Michigan while piling on red tape that makes it harder for employers, small businesses, and farms to grow and hire. As our population declines, a smaller pool of taxpayers are forced to carry a bigger burden, too often without the transparency and accountability they deserve.
Working families shouldn’t be punished for doing everything right. We need a legislature that gets results, cuts waste, and clears the runway for Michigan to regain it’s place among America’s most business friendly states. Republicans have always been the party of hard work, opportunity, and free enterprise, and so am I. As your State Representative, I’ll work to bring back the Right to Work Act, reinstate Michigan as the workhorse of the American economy, and ensure working families and seniors receive permanent state tax relief that’s forever safe from wasteful Democrat spending.
EDUCATION
The Michigan Department of Education has failed our children, parents, and educators. The last decade has produced one of the largest declines in state education quality ever. At the same time, tax dollars of hardworking families have funded this failing system. Nearly half of our 4th graders read below the national average, and our graduates are struggling to compete in college and beyond. The system lacks accountability.
We need to continue to fund schools, incentivize our hard-working teachers, and breed a competitive atmosphere that brings the best out of each individual student. Parents need an expanded School of Choice program to decide what’s best for their children, and curriculum transparency to know exactly what’s being taught in the classroom. The current Education Bureaucracy must be dismantled in favor of a platform that trains the workforce of our economy and emphasizes the unique talents of our youth. Not every high school graduate should feel obligated to add to our nation’s crippling student-loan debt, and it’s time we stop treating college as the only path. As your State Representative, I’ll ensure our children receive the education they deserve, with effective oversight on your state tax-dollars that get results.
AGRICULTURE + INFRASTRUCTURE + ENERGY
Reliable roads. Reliable energy. Reliable broadband. Real Opportunities.
Our district is home to some of the most fertile farmland in the state. Yet Lansing has failed to deliver the basic infrastructure our farmers need to win: safe roads to move harvest to market, reliable broadband to connect to the modern economy, or healthcare for the rare occurrence a farmer needs a doctor. When government fails to do the basics, family farms with shrinking margins become targets for outside interests including foreign-backed buyers and energy developers.
We’re blessed to live in a state with an abundance of natural resources. It’s common sense to take advantage of this through an all-of-the-above energy policy that maintains local control, and keeps prices low for our farmers and families. Our rural infrastructure requires significant attention in the form of healthcare, broadband, and other initiatives that promote Michigan-grown products and keep family farms in local hands. As your State Representative, I’ll support policies in favor of our local infrastructure, promote an all-of-the-above energy solution that lowers utility costs for our working farmers and families, and keep Michigan farmland out of the hands of foreign governments.
